1. Classical conditioning
A neutral stimulus associated with a natural response 2. Operant conditioning A response is increased due to reinforcement punishment 3. Observational Learning Learning occurs through observation and imitation of others 4. Ivan Pavlov Studied dog salvation for the conditioned reflex, wanted for the digestive system but then started looking at stimuli 5. Garcia effect Taste Aversion: avoiding food that previously made you sick. Even if it wasn’t the food that made you ill, it is still the smell or look that made you nauseous 6. positive punishment- Positive punishment is a form of behavior modification. In this case, the word “positive” doesn’t refer to something pleasant. 7. Higher order-conditioning (also known as Second Order Conditioning) is a classical conditioning term that refers to a situation in which a stimulus that was previously neutral (e.g., a light) is paired with a conditioned stimulus 8. Latent learning- The subconscious retention of information without reinforcement or motivation. 9.John B. Watson- Further testing Pavlov's theory, hypothesized children can fear distinct stimuli (conditioned little Albert with generalization to fear white rats.) 10. Unconditional Response: A stimulus in the environment has produced a behavior which is unlearned and is therefore natural. (tasting a lemon) |
